The triangle was a long-standing symbol of the Christian Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit; sometimes in previous centuries God was even depicted with a triangular halo. But what are the origins of that eerie disembodied eye? God had been depicted in numerous cryptic ways before, such as by a single hand emerging from a cloud, but not as an eye.
But there is a deeper history to the eye as a symbol to consider — one that takes us back to the earliest known religions. In the third millennium BCE, the Sumerians conveyed the holiness of certain sculptures by abnormally enlarging their eyes to enhance the sensation of dutiful watchfulness. But it was the ancient Egyptians who were the originators of the detached eye as a motif: for example, a pair of eyes painted on a coffin that allowed the dead to see in the afterlife. And one of the most famous of all Egyptian symbols is the Eye of Horus. With the help of Thoth, he later healed his eyes.
The Eye of Horus was therefore a protective symbol, often used as an amulet, a sculpture small enough for a person to carry in their pocket as a form of protection. His goal in the house is to be the strong player who's also loved by everybody, and this bad blood with Dani could ruin that though what's really ruining that strategy is his compulsion to talk game and alliances with everybody and therefore ensure that someone is going to feel betrayed at some point. Dani sees right through it. She knows Tyler is just trying to be in the good graces of every player in the house, but between her own thoughts about her game and her alliance's strong objection to targeting Tyler right now, she's not ready to make any sort of big move.
As has been the case this season, that's not surprising! So, Dani chooses what she deems the path of least resistance and puts Kevin and David on the block. But here's the thing: David has his secret power, which will allow him to pull himself off the block. And Dani also likes Kevin a lot and has some connection with him. If there was any week where the HOH could be seriously forced to shift the landscape of the game, this is the one.
That's it for the HOH and the nominations! Don't forget that the next episode, featuring the veto competition, airs Tuesday rather than Wednesday this week.
See you then! Save FB Tweet More. Big Brother. This week's rollercoaster began immediately after last week's eviction, when Derek Xiao got the axe , and Tiffany Mitchell then won the title of Head of Household. After some failed attempts by Sarah Beth to convince Tiffany to send Alyssa Lopez to the block instead of her, those attempts failed. The only problem is, Kyland isn't actually her ally.
Sure, he's her best friend in the house and there's a lot of romantic undercurrent to the time they spend together, but Kyland is part of the most powerful alliance in the house, The Cookout, and Sarah Beth has no idea. Kyland has spent the entire week in the awkward position of pretending to be Sarah Beth's ride or die while at the same time knowing he's totally safe and that she'll be going home because he's got the protection of The Cookout.
One minor complication involved fellow Cookout member Xavier Prather also being on the block due to a complicated punishment related to last week's Veto challenge, but he was also very aware of how safe he was.
However, since Claire and Tiffany have been very close this entire time, Claire kept the nominations exactly the same. It's important to note that Claire is not part of The Cookout and doesn't even know it exists. So Sarah Beth's last hope to survive was the Veto Comp -- which involved solving a logical puzzle with photos of since-evicted houseguests.
