Even if he opts to Hoover out all melody from a tune. Case in point: It's still very tough to say who will take the prize among the remaining contestants: two tiny teen girls with giant voices Hollie and Jessica Sanchez and two guys with vastly different styles Phillip and Joshua Ledet.
We're talking Grand Canyon-vast there. In guest-performance news, last night gave us performances by Coldplay and Carrie Underwood. At the start of the night I'd written in my notes, "Carrie singing two songs," because that's what Ryan Seacrest had said, right? That's what my brain heard. So after that first engrossing, hypnotic, dare-I-say magical rendition of her new single, "Blown Away," I was all giddy for another dose.
But then I discovered the error of my ways: She wasn't singing twice; Coldplay was. Laine, the year-old country rocker from Brandon, Miss. The other singers remaining in the competition are booming year-old gospel singer Joshua Ledet of Westlake, La. Mark Francescutti.

Randy saying that he had one more thing to say, only for Jennifer Lopez to say something instead. While it was nice to see Phillip take a cue from the judges and actually sing some of the melody, there were some problems that were still present throughout. The real problem Phillip has on this season is that he is ultimately a musician on a show full of big singers — and only getting two minutes to perform benefits people who rely only on their vocals. She was convicted when it came to singing the song, which actually reminded us of an earlier time period the s.
The only problem that we have with this performance is that this may not be something that viewers remember at the end of the show — at least compared to some of her other performances from the past. With that in mind, a flawed and in many ways flawless performance was designed. Well done all around here! Like Jessica, Joshua dialed back the start of this performance — but then took us on a tear-jerking trip to funkytown with some spectacular runs and high notes.
So after I met this wicked cool real estate agent, we drove from location to location looking for the best condo that was suited for me.
Slowly throughout the day our banter veered towards television we enjoyed watching. He understood me! I was iffy at first on the CCR song, although the judges loved it.
It seemed like the same Phil Phillips that we had come to love, but by the second song he knocked the crowd, the judges and me off my feet. Not only because of the tween vote, but because he has something incredible. We followed with Hollie Cavanagh. Oh Hollie, how we feel for you. It was good, but for some reason it lacked the je ne sais quoi factor. It was pitchy, bland and somewhat boring. Maybe next week, Hollie — or maybe not. Up next was Joshua Ledet. How do I put this: He was incredible!
Obviously she hit all the notes perfectly like she does week after week, but this week she had crazy emotion. It was obvious she won over America. Then it was time. After 70 million votes insane! It was obvious she knew it was her time to go. There were no tears and no drama. She sang her final song and was proud to have made it that far. Then there were three.
